Organizational Systems

SalishRocks Web Design offers and specializes in system development and implementation for the management of businesses and organizations. These are custom-tailored, private and separate from the Dynamo, although they will typically also have some integration with the public side of the Dynamo.

SalishRocks Web Design has at its disposal a vast library of routines for system implementation. They are, but not limited to:

  • Point-of-sale
  • Web sales
  • PayPal payments
  • Accounting
  • Reservations
  • Event management
  • Project management
  • File management
  • Scheduling
  • Member lists
  • Mailing lists
  • Staff management
  • Internal communications
  • Volunteer management
  • Minutes
  • Documents
  • Images
  • Inventory control
  • Reports
  • Backup of data

Plug it in

As will be somewhat obvious from looking at the websites produced and maintained by SalishRocks Web Design, most of the websites are also organizational systems.

Behind the website that the public sees there may be substantial activity that manages the daily business of the organization that owns the website. Users of the website may also be part of that system activity in an interactive manner. Some of this activity may result in content that is accessible and viewable by the public and some may be hidden and only accessible and viewable by the staff or volunteers of the organization.

A system developed by SalishRocks Web Design would often be a "plug-in" for a Dynamo website, offering integration between the Dynamo and the system component. An example of that is the Lopez Fit website and system (which offers member management and volunteer scheduling). Or it may be a completely self-contained system, like the point-of-sale and volunteer management system for Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District.

Organizational systems are developed and ongoingly maintained through close cooperation between the organization and SalishRocks Web Design. And just as the content on the Dynamo is easily maintained through intuitive screens and interfaces, so is the data of the systems developed. Even if a system may be complicated behind the scenes, SalishRocks prides itself for making the management of the system uncomplicated for those who use it.

The Nerdy Stuff

All system programs are written in PHP, a powerful programming language (reminiscent of the "C" language) that allows for advanced data manipulation.
Databases operate inside of PHP using SQL, the most advanced database utility available for the web.
The user interface is written in standard and up-to-date browser language, HTML5 with some Java Scripting and jQuery, all together with CSS (cascading style sheets) for consistent display and display responsiveness for all devices.
